Health is the greatest possession. Contentment is the greatest treasure. Confidence is the greatest friend. Non-being is the greatest joy. (Lao Tzu)

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Christina McDonald and I offer professional reiki treatments in New Bond Street, Mayfair, Central London. All reiki treatments and courses are conducted at the Kite Clinic, in a very relaxing and tranquil environment.

What is Reiki?:

'What is at work here is the quantum principle, which reveals that the subtlest levels of nature hold the greatest potential energy.' (Deepak Chopra - 'Perfect Health').

Reiki has been described as many things. Some people call it 'faith healing' or 'the ability to work with energy'. 'Reiki' translated means 'universal life-force energy'. The practitioner works with the energy field of their client and channels reiki to bring the mind and body into a state of natural balance. Reiki practitioners treat their clients using a variety of hand positions to send energy where it is needed most. The practice of reiki is developed and strengthened by regular meditation which eventually leads to mindfulness of the present moment (awareness).

My Training:

I completed my training in reiki over a period of three years with Reiki Evolution under the instruction of Reiki/Master teacher, Tina Shaw who is based in Loughton, Essex. As a reiki practitioner, I closely adhere to the original Japanese method and teachings of Mikao Usui which are very simplistic and deeply effective to this day.

  • My japanese reiki lineage is as follows:

    Mikao Usui,
    Suzuki San,
    Chris Marsh,
    Taggart King,
    Tina Shaw,
    Christina McDonald
    .

From the East to the West:

Reiki is presented to the world in the west mostly as a complementary therapy but it started off in the east as a healing system for self improvement. From the east to the west, reiki has certainly undergone an interesting transformation over many years. Since Mikao Usui's death, reiki has been modified over the years until it was more focused on the use of symbols, rituals and the treatment of others in the west. The original emphasis of reiki in the east was on self-treatments and personal/spiritual development before it had been changed subsequently into what is commonly called today as 'Western Reiki'.

Is Reiki Similar To Any Other Therapies I Would Have Heard Of?:

Unlike the 'talking therapies' such as hypnotherapy, stress management, counselling and psychotherapy etc. reiki works in a much more subtle way as it helps to bring about gradual changes which show their effect in your daily life such as how you approach and deal with stress, emotional issues (and anything else you can think of in regards to your personal development). As well as promoting deep relaxation, the benefits of reiki treatments to your general health which includes your physical and emotional wellbeing can be long lasting and potential is unlimited in relation to what you want to gain from reiki treatments and indeed the study of reiki in the long term.

How Can I feel The Effects Of Reiki?:

The effects of reiki will become more apparent after your course when you work with energy on a regular basis. By treating yourself, treating other people and practicing mindfulness, the results will speak for themselves!

'(Reiki) is similar to feeling the wind on your face and body instead of standing in a house where you can only see the effects of the wind'. (Phyllis Lei Furumoto).
