Are There Any Contraindications to Reiki Treatments?:
There are no known contraindications to reiki treatments. If you have diabetes, just keep an eye on your blood sugar levels before and after the treatment as they may fluctuate. If you have a physical condition, you may find that your symptoms will temporarily increase whilst having a treatment. This is nothing to worry about and will soon disappear either during, or once the treatment has finished.
Is Reiki Safe?
Reiki always works for the highest good of the recipient. There are no reported cases of reiki ever having had an adverse impact on anyone. Reiki is a very soft and gentle energy and it will always flow where it needs to. The reiki practitioner is merely a channel for the energy and it is always carried out with the intention that the treatment is for the highest good of any individual.
Do Reiki Practitioners Diagnose?:
Reiki Practioners do not diagnose clients under any circumstances. In all cases, in regards to any health complaints you may have, please speak to your GP for advice. If you are taking medication for a medical condition, you should continue to do so under the advice and guidance of your doctor.
Do I need to book a course of treatments or can I book a single session?:
You can book one treatment session at a time with me or you can choose to book a course of treatments if you prefer.
Is A Reiki Treatment For Me?:
If you want to alleviate the effects of stress, reiki is a wonderful way to relax. If you have never experienced a reiki treatment before, you may be surprised just how relaxed you will feel afterwards!
What could I experience after having a reiki treatment?:
Once your reiki treatment is over, you should feel deeply relaxed. A lot of people feel very light as though they are floating. You may feel a little ‘spacey’ and disorientated for a short time afterwards so allow yourself to ‘come back down to earth’ gradually. Drink plenty of water afterwards as it will help to support the 'clearing out'/cleansing effects of the treatment and help you to release any toxins*.
*This will depend on what the imbalance within you is as the energy will naturally flow to the area where it is needed the most.
After receiving a reiki treatment, you may experience an emotional release occurring over the next few days although this is more likely to occur after having 3 treatments or more. This is completely normal as your body is clearing out old and unwanted problems and blockages in your energy system.
As your body readjusts itself, it is not uncommon to experience physical symptoms in response to receiving reiki such as headaches, stiff joints, the cold etc. This is sometimes called a ‘healing crisis’ but this is only a short-term reaction in response to treatment.
You may find yourself thinking about old memories which can sometimes resurface after treatments. Reiki can sometimes unearth long forgotten memories that perhaps had an emotional significance a long time ago which have literally just ‘popped up to say hello’ so to speak. Again, this is part of the readjusting process which should eventually settle down.
You may find it much easier to relax after having a course of reiki treatments and you may find certain areas of your life gradually improving. A lot of people say they feel as though they can approach their life from a more positive perspective as well as feeling they are not as stressed as they used to be. Again, everyone is different and everyone has their own unique experience in relation to reiki.
You may find yourself feeling much more positive and happier after having reiki treatments. This is one of the many benefits of experiencing reiki and you may find yourself approaching life from a brand new perspective!
What are the Reiki Precepts?:
The reiki precepts are simple guidelines which help to encourage mindfulness of the present moment. They are as follows:
Just for today:
Do not anger,
Do not worry,
Be humble,
Be honest in your dealings with other people,
Be compassionate towards yourself and other people.
The precepts help us to practice mindfulness on a daily basis. Put simply, it helps to remind us to accept the moment as it is without the need to carry unnecessary 'mental baggage' (worry, anger etc.) which can create unwanted stress. Living the precepts can help to create a strong foundation for your personal growth and development with regular practice.
